Admin/Biographical History Fanya Pekar was born on November 7, 1928 in Pomieczyno, Ukraine. Fanya and her family were sent to the Pomieczyno Ghetto in October 1941. They remained there until March 1944 when they were liberated. After the war, Fanya married Aleksey Pekar and immigrated to the United States.

Scope & Content The Pekar Family Papers contain biographical materials and photographs. Biographical materials consist of copies of death certificates for both Fanya and Aleksey Pekar. Photographs, which are also copies, are of the extended Pekar family. These photographs depict the family before and after the war, with a focus on their life in the States.
