Hermann Hirsch (b. June 4, 1861, d. March 1, 1934) was a German-Jewish painter known for his portraits and landscapes. Hirsch studied at The Academy of Arts of Berlin starting in 1881. His last known painting was completed in 1933. Hirsch committed suicide the following year on March 1. This watercolor by Hermann Hirsch was included in the estate inherited by the Virginia Holocaust Museum from Susanne B. Hirt, paternal niece of Hermann Hirsch. |
