Description |
Black military propaganda book. Outside cover is a black textured paper with silver writing and embellishments. Front, top, left corner has a Nazi eagle, and bottom has text reading, "II. Artillerie = Regiment 58." Book is bound on the right side with a dark brown string that has tassels on the end. First page has an inscription written in pen. It reads, "Souvenir from Bremen, Germany / from S/Sgt. C.D. Pease./12/st. Engus. C. Bn. 29 lin/Oct. 8. 1945. Initial pages after this are glossy with black and white photos of German figures, and their signatures with text beneath. Following pages have text and historical images. At the end of the book are blank white and black pages that are interleaved with patterned tissue-like paper. |

This object was donated by Lucy S. Horenstein. It was obtained by her uncle, Charley D. Pease, from a deceased German officer in Europe. Charley served with his seven brothers and brother-in-laws. All of them returned safely after the War. |
