Description |
Gray Nazi Army officer's visor cap; the top of the hat has white stitching around the hat, which defines the up most portion of the front of the hat and keeps the top of the hat flat. White stitching appears 7 cm below the top stitching, and is tighter around the hat, the top potion of hat rests over this. White stitching appears around the hat at the very bottom edge, right as the lid of the hat appears. In the front center of the hat between the top and middle white stitching and along a center seam, is a gray and silver pin of the Reichsadler that has been sewn in and is 3.7 by 6.5 cm long. Between the middle and bottom white stitching, the fabric is a darker gray/green, and a different, less soft material. In the front center of this area, a deep green patch has been sewn in which displays a silver laurel wreath, which includes acorns, surrounding a red dot in the middle of a raised silver platform that has the appearance of a large button on top of a bottle cap. In this mid-section, an elastic black band that is 3.2 cm wide extends around hat. Below the bottom white stitching on the front of hat is a black shiny belt with three 'buckles' extending over the lid, which is also black and shiny. Belt is connected to hat with two buttons sewn into the mid-section of hat on the sides. Lid only extends 1/3 of way around hat and is 4 cm at longest point in front center of hat. Inside hat, the back side of the lid is a bright brick red/brown and the mid-section (sweatband) is also a darker brick red/brown in a leather material, these layers are separated by a sewn in black felt band .3 cm wide. The middle section also has two buttons sewn into its left side, one with the letter 'H' on it and the other with the letters, 'Sch' on it. The backside of the top layer is a soft golden colored silk. On the gold fabric is the printed name of the manufacturer, "Peküro", surrounded by a diamond shape, and below reading, "Stirndruckfrei Deutsches Reichspatent." This maker's mark indicates the cap was made by Peter Kupper, a renowned cap maker during this period, and had a patented design that guaranteed the cap would not cause pressure on the forehead. |
